James Harden Records 1st 60 Point Triple Double
Houston Rockets star James Harden scored a career high 60 points against the Orlando Magic.
Harden’s 60 points broke the Rockets’ franchise record in points that was previously held by Calvin Murphy in 1978.
This is the first time ever an NBA player has recorded a 60 point triple double game in NBA history.
The Rockets were short-numbered as Chris Paul and Trevor Ariza were out of Tuesday’s game due to injury. Houston guard Eric Gordon went out from the game early in the second quarter due to lower back stiffness.
Houston and Orlando were tied at 107 with nearly four minutes left in the game. For two minutes neither team was able to score, until Harden took over.
James Harden scored the next 6 points, including a 4 point play over Mario Hezonja, eclipsing the 80 point mark.
The Rockets went on to win the game 114-107 and now sit in the second seed in the Western Conference with a 36-13 record.
Houston will go on the road to face the San Antonio Spurs Thursday night.
