Brazil Soccer Fans ‘Host Funeral’ For Germany After Their World Cup Exit Loss
Brazil fans hosted a ‘funeral’ for Germany after they crashed out of the 2018 World Cup due to their final group stage match against The Republic of South Korea.
In Lebnon, a nation not know for it’s presence in world soccer, there are some of the most passionate soccer fans in the world. The passion was very visible, especially among Brazil fans, after Germany failed to make it out of the Group Stage in the World Cup for the first time ever, fans host a fake funeral for the German Soccer Team. Germany are reigning World Cup Champions, having claimed the title in 2014 in Brazil while beating Brazil 7-1 in the semi-finals.
Germany went 1-0-2 in the Tournament with their only win coming against Sweden when Toni Kroos scroed the game winner deep into added time. However, the one win and two loses were not good enough to see the Germans advance in this tournament. Germany, whom many had pegged a pre-tournament favourites, had looked very shaky in all of their games and most certainly did not look like the power house side we are used to seeing. Instead of Germany advancing out of Group F, it’s Sweden and Mexico that advance.
If you’re wondering why there are so many Brazil fans in Lebanon, it’s because Brazil boasts one of the biggest population of Lebanese people outside of Lebanon, so it’s no surprise that the Lebanese, who don’t have a horse in the race, choose to support Brazil. There are said to be over 7 million Lebanese people in Brazil, that is more than the 6 million Lebanese people that live in Lebanon itself.
It will be tough for Germany to re-group after this loss. However, they are a Nation with a longstanding history of churning out high-quality soccer players by the dozen, so it probably won’t be that hard for them to look internally and find the right talent they need to success internationally.
