Sam Huff Reacts to Making His Major League Debut With Texas as a MLB Top 100 Prospect
Rangers top catching prospect Sam Huff spoke to the media following his MLB debut with Texas.
Huff made his debut against Oakland, going 0-3 while striking out in his first major league at-bat. Huff spoke on his first MLB appearance as the Rangers catcher.
“I couldn’t feel my legs probably, but it was fun and I had a good time. Everyone there was really supportive, I just got my legs loose and after that I was fine. It was fun getting to play everyone and face guys you’ve watched when you were a kid. In that moment, it was kinda cool.”
“Deep breaths, big deep breaths”, Huff said on how he tried to keep his composure during his first game. “I just slowed everything down and savor the moment and see everything how it’s going. You only get one debut, so that’s how I wanted to do it”, he finished.
Finally, Huff detailed his first big league at-bat, where he struck out on three pitches.
“It was different – my first at-bat I’m used to getting fast-balls, instead I’m getting front hip sliders and curve balls. It was different, but after that I got the idea that they understand I’m a power hitter. It’s just understanding the zone, and the second at-bat I felt way better and had a better feeling of it.”
