Dad risks the life of a child to make an unbelievable catch on a home run during Phillies game.

Philidelphia has some of the craziest fans in the world, from riots after losing to riots after winning. Fans in the city of brotherly love take some serious risks when it comes to sports. Monday night was no different for the city. During the 9th inning, with the Phillies down two, Maikel Franco hits a towering home run. As the ball was plummeting back to earth, this dad had a choice to make. Risk the life of his first born son for eternal glory or risk living with the regret for the rest of his life.

The dad chose glory. If the ball was going to hit him or the baby, then catching it in self-defense is within the realm of realistic outcomes. However, by going back in the video, you can clearly see he reaches across his body and leaps for the ball to catch it. While the catch is one for the ages, one has to think what the child’s mother is thinking! She is seen with tears of laughter and joy next to the father, celebrating the moment. These two are what sports fans should look upon for examples of true fans. The mother did have a protective hand on the baby because that is what moms do. She realized everyone was okay and reveled in the shared glory of her husband.

The TV announcers did not seem very impressed with the play. Definitely not as impressed as the guy in the maroon shirt behind the dad. The look on his face is like a man who has just seen God Himself. All sports fans should try to be like Philly fans, life is your teams and everything else is secondary.
