Taylor Trammell sparks Team USA’s offence with a home run and a triple to lead a 10-6 win over Team World.

Once a year, MLB’s top prospects from around the world meet up to play their annual All-Star game. Each year future MLB superstars have been able to show off their talent on a national stage before they break into the big leagues. 2018’s game was a clear glimpse into the future of baseball. Both teams combined to slug eight home runs and scored 16 runs total. It is no secret that Major League Baseball has shifted toward the long ball over recent years. If the Futures game is any indication, the home run trend is not going anywhere.

Some notable past performers in the Futures games include several 2018 MLB All-Stars. Included on that list is Bryce Harper, Aaron Judge and Fransico Lindor to name a few. This game does a great job of showing the next wave of stars in baseball better than anything else.

Some notable stars playing in this year’s game really raised some eyebrows, not only with home runs but with raw power pitching. Taylor Trammel was named MVP after a home run and a triple late in the game to pull away from Team World. Luis Basabe went power on power, hitting a moon shot off of a 102 MPH fastball. Hunter Greene was the top pitching performer throwing fireballs that topped 103 MPH!

Power is king in baseball, and it seems to be here to stay. Players these days are getting better and better while also getting stronger than we have ever seen. Teenagers are throwing 100 MPH fastballs, and other teens are hitting them over 400 feet. For a lot of people, the Futures game is full of unknown players. Maybe after such an incredible show, people will start to reconsider. Afterall, most if not all the players involved will be playing for your favourite teams in a couple of years.
