Zack Greinke Explains Confusion With Astros Coaching Staff Over His Pitch Count & Pitching Healthy
Watch as Zack Greinke speaks to media following his 9th win of the year against Indians.
Zack Greinke tossed a solid outing for the Astros, going 5 and 1/3 innings and allowing just 2 runs against Cleveland. Greinke was pulled from the game after getting into trouble in the 6th with just 85 pitches.
Greinke spoke on his health following a shoulder injury and his week of rest before the start against the Indians.
“Good, 100% now, nothing to worry about”, he told the media. “It wasn’t a serious issue, it was just sore for a while. Just was really wanting to try to let it heal where I’ve been trying to get it to heal for while but when you’re continuing pitching, it’s tougher. So, just a little extra days and some medicine and it got better”, he finished.
“Defense is almost always good with our team”, Greinke said following a great performance by Houston’s infield.
In addition, Greinke showed frustration on the Astros keeping his pitch count low following shoulder soreness.
“I don’t why that would be the thought”, he said. “My pitching coach asked me like 10 times in the last 4 days and I keep telling him I’m great, nothing to worry about. Then the same thing today, feel great. So there’s no reason to take me out for workload or injury things.”
