When Steph Curry takes the court, it’s always a treat. But when Kyrie Irving joins him on the opposing side, you’re in for a once in a lifetime opportunity. Between the two point guards, they have 10 All-Star appearances, two NBA Three-Point Shootout Championships and the best handles basketball has even seen.

Understandably, the hype surrounding Saturday’s matchup between the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors had been growing for weeks and fans were eager to watch two of the league’s greatest floor generals trade buckets. Despite the massive potential for a regular season game like this one to underwhelm the audience, the back-and-forth affair did anything but disappoint as somehow the showdown managed to exceed even the highest of expectations.

Kyrie and Steph have partaken in many great regular season and playoff battles over the years, but perhaps no game between the two had even seen them simultaneously catch fire quite like this.

Irving shake and baked and had his way for 37 points against the Warriors’ league leading defense, but Steph wasn’t to be outplayed by his Eastern Conference counterpart. The two time MVP answered every big shot from Kyrie with a basket of his own, and dropped 49 points to help Golden State sneak past Boston 109-105.

The two conference leaders are making short work of their competition this season, and it looks as though the NBA is in for a new Finals matchup for the first time in three years. There’s still plenty of regular season to be played, but if every game between the Warriors and the Celtics is as entertaining as this one, it’ll be easy for fans to choose which teams they hope to see squaring off come June.
