Dirk Nowitzki speaks on Miami battles and former teammate Harrison Barnes
Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki speaks on Miami battles and former teammate Harrison Barnes.
After a tough loss to the Sacramento Kings, Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki gave his thoughts on the loss and playing a former teammate.
Nowitzki blame the loss on the team not being able to “close” the game; the Mavericks were up down the stretch. This game in particular was significant not for playoffs sake, but more so because of the Kings mid-season, mid-game acquisition of small forward Harrison Barnes, who used to a Dallas Maverick.
The Dallas Mavericks made a video tribute to Barnes in his return to Dallas. The one-time NBA Champion said the video was “well deserved” because he was important to Dallas in his time spent there and his impact on the Dallas community.
“I thinks that’s what people appreciated about him,” the 40-year-old forward said. ” He wasn’t afraid of getting out and trying to make a change for what he believed in. He’s a good man.”
Harrison said “it was a lot of love” when it came to returning back to Dallas and seeing Nowitzki on the same floor.
After playing Sacramento, Nowitzki and the Mavericks will travel to Miami Heat’s home, also know as Wade county. The Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat have had their share of battles over the years on the biggest stage. At the young age of 24, Dwayne Wade brought a championship to Miami over the Dallas Mavericks.
Both sides have come out with a chip on each side, but Nowitzki described it as “tough memories and great memories.” Dallas lost to the Heat in the 2006 NBA Finals, but got their “revenge” in the 2011 NBA Finals against the Heat.
