Heading into the Cleveland Cavaliers Milwaukee Bucks game, all the buzz surrounded Giannis Antetokounmpo’s opportunity to dethrone LeBron James and establish himself as the head honcho of the NBA. While the Greek Freak dished out another strong case for his MVP candidacy, James put him in his place and reminded us that he isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

Antetokounmpo dropped 34 points and found the open man with 8 assists, but watched helplessly as the Cavs stole their early lead and slowly built their own. When the final frame came to a close, it was glaringly apparent that the Cavalier depth, experience, and talent was too much for the up and coming Bucks to handle.

The final score read 116-97 as LeBron James left his fingerprints all over the game. Giannis gave glimpses of why he poses such a serious challenge to The King’s claim to the title of best player, but LeBron fired back and outsmarted the 2017 Most Improved Player of the Year when it mattered most on the play shown above.

Though the matchup was never truly close, it gave an interesting perspective into he past, present and future of the NBA in the unique styles of play between James, Antetokounmpo and Dwyane Wade.

Milwaukee probably doesn’t have a realist chance of catching Cleveland or even registering as a blip on their radar to stop their them from their fourth consecutive NBA Finals appearance. With that said, expect the Bucks to give teams fits in the regular season and whatever unfortunate soul they should draw come playoff time a run for their money.
