Russell Westbrook makes his preseason debut
The Oklahoma City Thunder took down the New Orleans Pelicans with ease 102-91 in Russell Westbrook’s preseason debut.
Though Westbrook managed just nine minutes in the game, he got the fans on their feet when he split the defense for forceful two-handed jam.
The Brodie’s debut was certainly the headliner, but Paul George led the charge lighting up the Pelicans D for 25 points in 27 minutes.
Thunder fans and basketball junkies alike had to be pleased with OKC’s new big three. Although Carmelo Anthony, Paul George and Russell Westbrook only played nine minutes of basketball together, they seemed to be firing on all cylinders and playing off each other’s strengths.
While the trio played sparingly tonight, that won’t be the case once the regular season kicks off. Expect Melo, PG13 and Russ to each take the floor upwards of 33 minutes a night.
Concerns, skepticism and hate have always come to greet the stockpiling of great talent on a single team, just look at the Golden State Warriors. All eyes will be on the Thunder this season as we wait and see if this new super-team can take down the basketball Goliaths of the NBA.
