Nets beat Lakers 115-110, win their sixth straight game.
The Lakers rallied, but the Nets held them off to keep their winning streak alive.
The Nets continued strong as they defeated the Lakers by 115-110 at the Barclays Center on Tuesday night. The victory gave them their sixth straight win, after they had previously gone on an eight-game losing skid.
Jarret Allen blocking LeBron James’ dunk on his first attempt to score was the right way to start things off. By the end of the first half, the Nets held a tight lead at 62-57. With about 7 1/2 minutes left to play in the fourth quarter, Brooklyn had a more comfortable lead at 100-87.
But then the Lakers rallied back into the game with a 10-0 run. It started with back-to-back 3-pointers by Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball. James then drove in on two layups to cut Brooklyn’s lead down to 100-97.
The Nets were in a tight game again as they led the Lakers by 110-107 with 42 seconds left in the quarter. D’Angelo Russell then scored from behind the arc with 22.4 seconds left to play. James answered back with a 3-pointer of his own as the Lakers trailed by 113-110 with 17.4 seconds to go.
Brooklyn then put the Lakers away by 115-110, on two separate free throws made by Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. Russell led the Nets with 22 points, along with a career high-tying 13 assists. Joe Harris followed with 19 points, while Spencer Dinwiddie scored 18 points and had six rebounds.
Hollis-Jefferson scored 17 points to go along with eight rebounds. Jared Dudley and DeMarre Carroll finished with 13 points each. Next up, the Nets will take on the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Wednesday.
