The Professor speaks on signing with And1 and foregoing his college eligibility at 18 years old to live his dream
The Professor sits down with Fanatics View for an interview special and starts off by explaining his path into And1
After not receiving any college offers to do what he loved most, streetball legend The Professor devised a plan to make basketball a part of his daily life.
“I aimed to hopefully go to the community college and bigger school route, but it just so happen that this And1 thing was going on at the time. I was a big fan of it. You can see even in my high school footage my senior year, I’m rocking the And1 Tai Chis. The same ones that Vince Carter wore in his famous dunk contest.”
At 18 years old, The Professor decided to forego his college eligibility and signed a contract with And1.
“My parents, they invested so much in nice shoes and clinics and personal trainers. AAU and all that. It’s almost like this is a chance for the investment to pay off.”
“We thought And1 was the next coming of the Harlem Globetrotters. Just in a different, real, very raw way.”
“Didn’t pan out that way,” adds the Professor. “But you know, I have no regrets giving up my eligibility. I did try to play pro after that.”
