Canelo Alavarez will seek his third championship title in three weight divisions when he challenges Rocky Fielding on Dec. 15.

Unified lineal middle weight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (50-1-2,34 KOs) will challenge Rocky Fielding (27-1,15 KOs) for the WBA super middleweight “regular” title on Dec. 15th at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Alvarez will be moving up in weight, from 160 to 168 pounds; for his first fight in the super middleweight division.

It will also be Alvarez’s first fight at the MSG, as he has mostly fought at the MGM Grand and the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada; since making his U.S. debut. He is coming off a majority decision victory over Gennady Golovkin in their Sep. 15 rematch, which earned him the WBC and WBA middleweight titles.

Alvarez looks to become one of only 10 Mexican boxers to hold titles in three divisions. This includes names like Julio Cesar Chavez, Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales. Before he became the unified middleweight champion, Alvarez was also the unified champion in the light middleweight division between 2011 and 2013.

Fielding’s only loss came against Callum Smith by TKO in November 2015 for the vacant British super middleweight title. He has gone on to win six fights since then. Fielding captured the WBA secondary title in July, when he went to Tyron Zeuge’s home country of Germany and defeated him for the belt by TKO in the fifth round.

The fight will air on video streaming service DAZN, the first of a five-year, 11-fight deal that Alvarez signed with DAZN for $365 million in October.
