It’s been nearly a year since Danny “Swift” Garcia lost to Keith Thurman by way of split decision. On February 17th “Swift” will return to the ring to face former champion Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios. The fight will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. This fight should be action packed with two of boxing’s most aggressive fighters.

Danny Garcia suffered his first loss to Keith Thurman in March of last year. Since then the boxing world has been eager to see him return to the ring. His unique blend of speed and power makes Garcia one of boxing’s most feared fighters, but after the loss Garcia has been over shadowed by both Keith Thurman and Errol Spence Jr.

In an interview with Showtime Boxing Garcia seemed optimistic about the upcoming fight.

“The plan for Danny Garcia is to get back on track, start the year off with a victory and we’ll see what’s next. Right now, I’m focused on Brandon Rios February 17th, and that’s about the only thing on my mind,” Garcia said in a Showtime interview.

Garcia will need that focus, because he won’t have an easy task with Brandon Rios. The man is nicknamed “Bam Bam” for a reason, and showed off his punching power with an impressive knockout victory over Aaron Herrera last June. Rios is a crowd pleasing boxer that likes to throw a variety of punches. He throws those punches hard and has an iron chin to go along with it. He carries these traits with pride and it made him one the divisions most respected punchers.

“I don’t run. I like to fight and I like to bang. Danny’s not a runner he likes to fight too,” Rios said in a Showtime interview.

Will this be the fight that gets Danny Garcia back on track or will it be the fight that sends Brandon Rios into boxing stardom? Find out February 17th on Showtime.
