Errol Spence says he can get Manny Pacquiao a retirement check
Errol Spence speaks on a potential fight with Manny Pacquiao, and also takes a shot at Shawn Porter.
Following his unanimous decision victory over Mikey Garcia, Errol Spence once again made his intention known to fight Manny Pacquiao. With Pacquiao beside him in the ring Spence said that it would be an honor to fight Pacquiao next. The question arises if Pacquiao, 40, can take an opponent like Spence, 29, due to his age and career nearing the end.
“It’s definitely a competitive fight, like I said, Manny Pacquiao; he’s blood and guts,” said Spence. “So that definitely be a great fight. He’s a future Hall of Famer, and he’s on his way out. And I’d definitely give him that retirement check that he been needing.”
Although Pacquiao is his preferred opponent, Spence took a shot at another name that he’s been calling out, WBC champion Shawn Porter. Spence remains critical of Porter’s decision to take on mandatory challenger Yordenis Ugas; rather than to unify titles. If he can’t get Pacquiao next, Spence said that he would “smoke” Porter.
“If Manny Pacquiao don’t wanna fight, then I’ll get him (Porter) that smoke that he been asking for.” said Spence.
