Richard Schaefer praises Errol Spence’s performance against Mikey Garcia, and believes that his era in boxing has just begun.

Ringstar Sports promoter Richard Schaefer spoke highly of Errol Spence following his unanimous decision victory over Mikey Garcia. Spence (25-0, 21KOs) made his fourth successful title defense in front of his home crowd at the AT&T Stadium.

“That was the most impressive display of skills (that) I have ever seen,” Schaefer told Spence. “And I’ve seen a lot of big fights, and big fighters. That was really record breaking. You deserve to be crowned as pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. That’s what you are.”

It says a lot coming from the former CEO of Oscar De La Hoya’s stable, Golden Boy Promotions. As the CEO of GBP, Schaefer had seen a fair share of champions, from Canelo Alvarez, Amir Khan, Adrien Broner, and Danny Garcia. Schaefer and GBP even worked with Floyd Mayweather on a fight-by-fight basis.

“Your era has started, it’s the Spence era,” said Schaefer. “The Mayweather era has stopped, has ended. It’s your time now, it’s your era, and there’s so many great fights for you out there. And let’s go and get them all.”
