WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder confirms the highly anticipated fight is off.

Deontay Wilder posted a profanity-laced tweet to tell his fans that the fight everyone has been wanting to see will not be happening anytime soon.

Wilder (40-0) and WBA, IBO, IBF, and WBO title holder Anthony Joshua (21-0) were in the process of negotiating and ironing out the details so this fight of Goliaths could happen. It would have been the fight of the year, and bring more eyes back to boxing.

According to reports, Joshua must fight “mandatory challenger” Alexander Povetkin, forcing the Wilder-Joshua fight to be placed on hold for now. Wilder said in his post that “My team and I bent over backwards” so that the fight could happen. He added: “Accepting everything they threw at us to find out this Boy is terrified of me P****.”

The WBC heavyweight champ ended the post with apologizing to the fans and looking forward to the future.

“I’m sorry guys they played us all,” Wilder said in a tweet. “F*** ’em!! We move forward the future is bright.”

This does not mean the fight is not going to happen, but it will take longer than the boxing world can wait.
