LSU never gave up hope and held on to beat Auburn, at Auburn, with a last second field goal to win.

LSU came out strong by intercepting Jarrett Stindham’s pass on the second play of the game and scoring off that drive to lead Auburn 7-0 within the first four minutes of the game. It wouldn’t stop there though. LSU’s Justin Jefferson had a SportsCenter Top 10 catch with an all-out grab and barley keeping one foot in bounds for a 31-yard completion from Joe Burrow.  LSU had the chance to increase their lead to 10-0 at the end of the first quarter, but kicker Cole Tracy missed a 53 yarder with 0:29 left in the first quarter. Tracy had another chance to make the score 10-0 and did by making a 33 yarder with 8:37 left in the second. But now Auburn started gaining some momentum. Auburn’s JaTarvious Whitlow ran for seven yards for a touchdown to get Auburn on the board. The Tigers did it again on their next drive with Shaun Shivers running seven yards for a touchdown to put Auburn in the lead, 14-10. In the second half, Auburn seemed to be keeping their momentum. LSU tried a fake punt that didn’t go their way. An incomplete pass from punter Zach Von Rosenberg to Foster Moreau gave Auburn the ball on their own 45 yard line. Auburn took advantage of this opportunity and added 7 more to their score from a four yard pass from Jarrett Stidham pass complete to Darius Slayton for a touchdown. This would be the last time Auburn saw the end zone. LSU scored a field goal to make it 21-13 with 3:58 left in the third. Auburn missed a field goal to start the fourth quarter, which was a big turning point in the game. With 8:18 left to play, Joe Burrow showed us all why he earned that starting job at LSU with a 71 yard pass to Derrick Dillon to put LSU within one. LSU went for two and failed, but there was still plenty of time to play. LSU held Auburn to a three and out and now had the ball on the LSU 24 with 5:38 left to play. LSU made its way down the field, and came to a deciding 4th and 7 play on the Auburn 48. Burrow completed a 9 yard pass to Stephen Sullivan to keep LSU alive. With 0:02 left on the clock, the game was up to Cole Tracy’s foot. Tracy was able to make a 42 yarder to win the game for LSU as time expired.

This was LSU’s second win against a top 10 opponent this season. This won’t be the last time they face a top ranked opponent as they face both Georgia and Alabama later this season.
