This will be a day Washington State fans will not forget for a while. With College GameDay in Pullman and the famous Ol’ Crimson flag finally able to be flown on its home turf, the Cougars were ready to take on the No. 12 Oregon Ducks.

Washington State opened up the game driving all the way down the field deep in Oregon territory, to then have Gardner Minshew’s pass intercepted by Deommodore Lenoir. For the rest of the first half though, it was all Minshew and the Cougars. Washington State scored on every drive in the first half after that. James Williams had a 24 yard run for a touchdown on their second drive, an impressive run breaking several tackles and stiff arming his way to the end zone. Minshew threw for the rest of the touchdowns that half with passes to Renard Bell, Easop Winston and Max Borghi, to make the score 27-0 going into the half.

Washington State thought they would be able to coast through the second half, but Oregon wasn’t done fighting. Oregon scored three times in the third quarter to make the score 27-17. The Ducks answered again with a field goal with 6:38 left to make the score 27-20, now just one touchdown away. The Cougars, especially Travell Harris, really stepped up this next drive to secure the win. Harris stole an almost intercepted pass from Oregon’s Jevon Holland to gain 37 yards and enter into Oregon territory. Washington State later faced a big fourth and six on the Oregon 34 and went for it. Minshew hit Harris for 11 yards to keep their drive alive. Two plays later, Minshew completed a 22 yard pass to Dezmon Patmon in the end zone to secure the win.

Gardner Minshew had a great day leading the Cougars with 323 passing yards and four touchdowns. Oregon’s quarterback Justin Herbert had 270 yards and one touchdown, but didn’t play as well as the Duck’s hoped. After a big victory against Washington last weekend, the Duck’s had high hopes going into the Washington State game and are leaving with a lot still to work on to get back into the race for North Division champion.
