Texas Football has a rich tradition of defensive line play and it will continue with Chris Nelson. When asked to compare Nelson to former Longhorn and current Seattle Seahawk Poona Ford Herman instantly said that would be unfair, because they are two completely different players on the field. He did say that their leadership styles were very similar. Herman praised the two for being humble and leading by example.

Herman stressed the fact that he is not asking Nelson to be Ford, but he does expect great play from the young man.
