Watch as Jani Hakanpaa reacts to debut performance with Carolina Hurricanes in win against Nashville.

Following trade to Hurricanes, Jani commented on the love and appreciation from the fans in welcoming atmosphere.

“They’ve been unreal”, Hakanpaa told media. “There was a sign down the road already for the 1st game for me. I’ve never had that happen before. It’s been unreal how good they’ve been to me and how they welcome me to the Canes here.”

In addition, Jani expressed his excitement and team role joining the Hurricanes.

“It was a really nice feeling. The togetherness these guys have in the locker room that shows up on the ice. Just for me, I’m trying to soak it all in and enjoy it and work as hard as all the other guys and trying to help the guy next to me to help make his life a little easier out there.”

Jani also spoke on his transition going smoothly with Carolina.

“Coaching staff’s been helping me a lot. It’s been a little smoother than what I would have expected. I feel like there’s still a lot of work to do but we’ll get there slowly. Just keep working on all the little details..”
