After only scoring two goals in their previous two games, the Pittsburgh Penguins took a 3-2 series lead with a 6-0 win.

It didn’t take long for the defending champions to find the back of the net. Justin Schultz registered his fourth goal of the playoffs 1:31 into the game. Additional goals in the period went to Bryan Rust and Evgeni Malkin.

Juuse Saros came in relief for Pekka Rinne, but the goalie change didn’t seem to have much of an effect. The second period followed a similar script as Conor Sheary extended the lead to four at the 1:19 mark of the frame. Phil Kessel and Ron Hainsey also found their way onto the score sheet to make it 6-0.

The third period went scoreless but tempers flared and multiple scuffles occurred creating much anticipation leading into Game 6 on Sunday.

Side note: Sidney Crosby recorded three assists to put him at 27 points (8 goals, 19 assists) and within one point of teammate Evgeni Malkin (10 goals, 18 assists) for the playoff scoring lead.
