Cristiano Ronaldo Hat Trick Free Kick Goal Against Spain
In Portugal’s first game of the 2018 World Cup against Spain, the mercurial Cristiano Ronaldo scores an absolutely incredible late-game free kick goal to tie game at three-a-piece.
Both Spain and Portugal had it in tough for their opening game at the 2018 World Cup. Spain leading the game 3-2 in the 88th minute, they conceded a free kick just outside of their penalty area for non-other than Cristiano Ronaldo to take. Ronaldo had already netted two goals so far in the game, including a penalty kick in the opening minutes of the game. With world watching and the weight of a Nation on his back, Ronaldo sized up the target and executed his free kick to perfection as the ball flew past Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea.
The game was now tied at three and Portugal was able to escape with a point while stealing victory away from their neighbours to the east. Ronaldo put on a show in this game, once again proving that he is arguably the best player in the world, perhaps even of all time to date.
Portugal had the lead in this game but managed to see it slip away in a matter of a few minutes in the middle of the second half when Spain was able to score two quick goals and switch the scoreline from 2-1 for Portugal to 3-2 for Spain. However, thanks to some Ronaldo magic, Portugal was able to claim that much deserved point.
Portugal’s next game is against a pesky Morocco side that will be coming into this game with a bitter taste in their mouths after having lost their opening game match to Iran in the 95th minute due to an own-goal. It will be interesting to see what Portugal has left in the tank after a very gruelling opening game against Spain.
