Jimmy Butler Reacts to Miami Heat Adding Kyle Lowry & Emotions Losing Goran Dragic in Trade
Butler on the addition of Lowry: “He’s been a very good friend of mine for years and years”
The Miami Heat have made some big moves this off-season. After re-signing sharpshooter Duncan Robinson and trading for star point guard Kyle Lowry, they agreed to a four-year, $184 million contract extension with superstar Jimmy Butler, locking in their own big three as they look to return to the Finals after a lackluster season. With the addition of Lowry comes the departure of Goran Dragic, and Butler spoke on his mixed emotions of welcoming a good friend and parting with another.
“Very much so,” says Butler in his excitement to play next to Lowry. “He’s been a very good friend of mine for years and years now. It’s not just basketball between me and him.”
“It’s great to have a genuine friend that you can have the tough conversations with,” Butler continued. “I’m gonna tell him the truth. He’s gonna tell me the truth. More than anything, he’s a Miami Heat guy too.”
On Dragic’s departure, Butler remembers most of Dragic’s passion for the game and his ability to make it easier for those around him.
“He’s a winner through and through,” says Butler.
“I still owe him a trip to Slovenia”.
