Recap: San Antonio ends Houston’s season with win in Game 6
Despite the absence of their best player in Kawhi Leonard and starting point guard, Tony Parker, the San Antonio Spurs eliminated the Houston Rockets in a 114-75 Game 6 win.
Leading the way for the Spurs were double-double performances by big men LaMarcus Aldridge (34 pts, 12 reb 1 ast) and Pau Gasol (10 pts, 11 reb, 5 ast).
For the Rockets, Trevor Ariza posted 20 pts, 5 pts, 1 ast while MVP candidate, James Harden, recorded 10 pts, 7 ast, 3 reb and shot 2-11 from the field (well below his season average).
Awaiting the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals is a well-rested team in Golden State – who swept their second round matchup against the Utah Jazz. Since 2012, no other western team other than San Antonio or Golden State has won the conference title. Even with the success both teams have had in recent years, this will be the first time these two teams face one another in the conference finals, making for an epic matchup.
Side note: With this win tonight, Gregg Popovich has eliminated a Mike D’antoni-led team from the playoffs for a fifth time.
