Detroit Lions lose on heart-wrenching final play
One of the more entertaining matchups this football Sunday was Detroit versus Atlanta in a face-off between gunslingers Matt Ryan and Matt Stafford.
Down by four with the game on the line, Stafford took his team downfield and threw the game winning touchdown to receiver Golden Tate who ran the ball to the goal line with eight seconds to spare.
However, upon further review, Tate was ruled down inches short of the pylons and the game ended due to a rule mandating a ten second runoff of the clock.
As debilitating as it was to lose on such a close and unfortunate ruling, the Lions should keep their chins up knowing they gave the Super Bowl LI runner up Atlanta Falcons a run for their money.
Detroit are now 2-1 heading into their week 4 game against a dangerous Vikings team. Meanwhile the undefeated Falcons will prepare for an inconsistent Buffalo Bills team in their road to remain perfect.
