Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby makes clutch save to keep the Golden Las Vegas Knights from equalizing the game.

With the Las Vegas Golden Knights up one game, the Knights looked to go up two games on the Washington Capitals, but the goalie of the Capitals had other things in mind.

With two minutes left in the third period, Knights right wing Alex Tuch had a goal-tying opportunity, but Holtby made a miraculous save to keep Washington up by one goal to make the series even; the Capitals won the game 3-2.

This matchup is a battle of experience and long, established chemistry, while the opposing team is young (in the sense of playing together). The Capitals have made the playoffs 27 out of 42 seasons, but have yet to collect a championship.

Despite the loss, the Golden Knights are being called by many the most successful expansion team in National Hockey League (NHL) history. This Las Vegas squad is just the second team in NHL history to reach the finals in its first year. The St. Louis Blues did it first in 1968, but in a league that contained only six teams.

Washington will head home to begin game three on Saturday, June 2.
