Shammgod on the Mecca of basketball: “There’s only one mecca of anything. And that’s New York. Period.”

God Shammgod, a player development coach with the Dallas Mavericks, spoke on various topics with Fanatics View. Shammgod spoke on what it’s like to coach Luka Doncic and how he’s improved, the real “mecca” of basketball and more.

“His handles are better,” says Shammgod of Doncic. “He’s a year older into it. And you know, most of it is Luka is just a great player. He’s just a great player to work with. Me and coach Jamahl Mosely do stuff with him every day. You know, the coaching staff works with his mind every day on getting better and watching film. I think Coach Carlisle has put so much trust in him and he and coach Carlisle got a great relationship.”

Shammgod also touched on NBA veteran Jamal Crawford still not being signed by a team.

“There’s no way Jamal Crawford is sitting at home and not playing in the NBA. Even though he’s my bro, Jamal is supposed to be in the NBA. There’s a lot of people in the NBA. Jamal definitely should be one in the NBA.”
