Dante Pettis Reveals He Wore #8 in College Football Because of Kobe Bryant
Fanatics View caught up with San Francisco 49ers receiver Dante Pettis in Miami to talk ball.
Pettis starred as a Washington Husky, and had a few words of advice for his former quarterback, Jacob Eason, saying “Learn as much as you can from the vets early. There’s a lot of stuff they say, you might not really believe it, but they’re telling you for a reason, they care about you, one; and they’ve been there and gone through all that stuff. So just take as much of their advice as you can.”
Pettis wore the number eight in college as he torched defenses in the Pac-12. He spoke eloquently on just how much Kobe Bryant meant to him and his career. “Kobe’s my idol man. The craziest thing, I can’t even put that into words. I grew up watching him, going to all the games. Wore number eight in college cause of him. That’s my guy.”
“Kobe is like up here, and everybody else is like down here.I had other favorite players, but nobody else was touching Kobe.”
Pettis proclaimed he now has Lakers season tickets, and is hoping to go to two parades in the near future.
For all his progression from his rookie year, Las Vegas sportsbooks see Pettis as a long shot to score a touchdown in the big game. With his odds sitting at a lucrative 20-1 the former University of Washington star wanted to bet on himself. “Forreal? I might, jeeze, that’s kinda wild.”
