Chris Woodward Reacts to Fernando Tatis Jr. Grand Slam in 3-0 Count: “I Didn’t Like it, Up 7 Runs”
Rangers manager Chris Woodward spoke to Fanatics view following blowout loss to the Padres.
Up by 7 runs in the 8th inning, Padres’ rookie sensation Fernando Tatis Jr. crushed a grand slam to further their rout against Texas. The slam came on a 3-0 count with the bases loaded, and Rangers manager Chris Woodward was not intrigued by Tatis’ decision to swing.
“There’s a lot of unwritten rules that are constantly being challenged in today’s game”, Woodward told media. “I didn’t like it personally. When you’re up by 7 in the 8th inning, its typically not a good time to swing 3-0. That’s kind of the way we were all kind of raised in the game. Just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s not right, but I don’t think we liked it as group.”
