Zach Greinke Honest About Struggles in Not Getting Strikeouts & Reacts to MLB All-Star Consideration
Watch as Zack Greinke talks pitching struggles in Astros 9-7 loss to Baltimore.
Greinke had a decent outing against the O’s, allowing 3 runs through 5 innings in Houston.
“Overall, pitched good”, Greinke said after the game. Greinke then went to dissect his struggles in loss.
“A lot of their balls were finding holes today, didn’t get quite as many strikeouts as I’d want to, and then a nice swing for a two-run homer made it feel worse than it was. That was my kind of thought on the game”, he finished.
In addition, Greinke spoke on lack of strikeouts and conforming with age to make good pitches.
“That’s just how it is nowadays for me. I can’t just will myself in the way to striking guys out and pitching really good. Just trying to make a lot of good pitches and hopefully at the end of the year you have a lot of quality outings…”
Greinke was also asked on potential All-Star game selection for the veteran pitcher.
“It’d be nice”, he told media. “We got a bunch of good pitchers, a lot of them could get a consideration. [Ryan] Pressly’s the main one I feel like has taken a step up above all the other guys.”
