Salvador Perez expressed his excitement for catching two-way star Shohei Ohtani in the first inning of the all-star game.
“It’s a dream for me”, Perez told media following the game. “I’m so happy and enjoyed catching Ohtani.”
Perez was impressed by Ohtani’s “easy” warmup, to catching over 100 mph fastballs in the first inning.
“The way he warmed up and getting ready for the game. He’s so easy, and the game was 100 miles fastball, 99 you know. That’s kind of like ‘wow, he’s pretty good.'”
“It’s fun”, Perez added. “Having the opportunity to catch the guy you’re gonna face during the season.”
