“This is a pretty big milestone”, Ohtani said through his translator. “I want the team to win first, that’s the main priority for me. In addition, Ohtani spoke on possibility of taking the mound during the all-star game.
“I’ve never had a choice in my professional career to pick where I pitch or hit. I think as players we’re all just pieces of the puzzle, and it’s all up to the manager if he decides to use me. That’s all I can say for now.”
Ohtani also described one of his most majestic displays of power on pitch at his eyes.
“The one homerun that stands out is the one I hit, it was really up, I think it was 12 feet off the ground. It was a ball by far, and I’m not supposed to put a swing on it but my body just reacted. I somehow hit a home run with it, and that kind of surprised me.”
