Alperen Sengun Reacts to Being Drafted by Houston Rockets & Playing With Christian Wood in Houston
Sengun on adjusting to the NBA: “I will do whatever it takes”
The Houston Rockets selected Turkish professional basketball player Alperen Sangun with the 16th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
What was surprising was the draft stock they actually gave up to get him.
Second-year general manager Rafael Stone and Co. must really see something special in the Turkish big man, as they traded two protected future first-round picks to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Sengun’s draft rights.
“I am so excited. As a country, Turkey, we are all excited,” begins Sengun through an interpreter. “I will bring everything as motivation, as a hard worker, to my new team. I will do whatever it takes and whatever I have to do for my new team.”
When asked about being paired with young forward Christian Wood in the frontcourt, Sengun states that he has the ability to pair with anyone and believes he will be a good fit.
