Doc Rivers & Daryl Morey Address Ben Simmons Situation at Media Day

During the Philadelphia 76ers media day, head coach Doc Rivers and president Daryl Morey sat down and discussed their long-awaited response on everything going on with Ben Simmons and him wanting out of the organization.

“I think the world of him as a player. Just because he doesn’t do certain things you want him to do doesn’t mean he’s a bad player. He made the all-star team. He almost won the Defensive Player of the Year award. So to me, sometimes I wish instead of just going with what you want, listen to my intent,” Rivers passionately said after being asked about his comments on Simmons shortly after game seven of the conference semifinals vs the Hawks.

Morey then spoke on if the 76ers organization feels there is any hope of reconciliation with Simmons.

“I think there’s a lot of hope…look, every situation is different, but we have a lot of optimism that we can make it work here.”
