Dusty Baker addressed the media after his Houston Astros evened up the World Series at 1 game apiece. Baker knew the importance this game held.

Dusty was not the only one who saw the magnitude of this game. The players and the crowd knew it as well. Dusty acknowledged the effect of the Minute Maid Park roof being open. The open roof in the post-season is quite rare in Houston. The Astros started fast in this game. Their 2nd inning rally happened fast in the words of Baker. Similar to Brian Snitker, Dusty Baker made it clear he is not comfortable with a lead in this series.

However, that lead was maintained thanks to the right arm of José Urquidy. Baker had high praise for the starting pitcher. He even suggested Urquidy is capable of more. They had to monitor his pitch count closely as he continues to get in shape. When asked if this was the most talented team he has ever managed, Dusty had high praise for them also. He knows the team will show up because they look for good things to happen. They expect things to go their way, even when they are down.

One player he addressed specifically was Jose Siri. Baker viewed Siri as an injection of life into the team. The rookie wreaked havoc on the base paths during the Astros offensive explosion in the 2nd inning. Baker noted how impactful Siri’s speed was to the opposition. That added pressure paid dividends for Baker and the Astros in game 2. They will look to continue to apply that pressure when the teams match up in Atlanta for Game 3.
