Red Sox & Dodgers Meet Up in Historic World Series
Red Sox and Dodgers will meet for historic 2018 World Series for the first time in 102 years.
The Boston Red Sox and the LA Dodgers are two of sports most historic franchises in America. They will both finally meet in this season’s World Series. Both have had long histories of success and popularity in baseball for over 100 years. However, 2018 marks the first meeting between the two juggernauts in 102 years of being in the MLB. Since the Dodgers moved from Brooklyn to Los Angles, the former heated rivalry has faded in time. In 1997, the commissioner of baseball decided to bring back interleague play for the AL and NL to play during the regular season. This would pit the Sox and Dodgers against each other every once in a while but the spark was no longer there between the two clubs.
Fast forward to 2018. Finally, the Red Sox and Dodgers have the two highest payrolls in baseball and hell-bent to reach the World Series. There was one glaring problem with baseballs fantasy. The Dodgers started the season 16-26 and in last place at the end of May. A repeat of the National League championship after starting that poorly has only been done once before. Of courses, this is 2018, anything can happen. The Dodgers made some high-end deals for players like Manny Machado and brought up quality young pitchers from their system. Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint and the Dodgers proved that by winning 92 games.
What is there to say about the Red Sox, they are 50 million over the luxury tax and it shows. The Sox started winning on opening day and haven’t stopped. With a few minor deals at the deadline to bolster pitching, the Red Sox were on a collision course for the postseason. The only thing standing in their way was two other 100 win teams. No team has ever eliminated two 100 win teams in the postseason, until now. Game 1 is Tuesday night in Boston. 2018 has shaped into one of the best seasons in recent memories no matter who you root for. Let’s hope for another memorable World Series!
