Shohei Ohtani Talks Home Run Derby Snub at MLB All-Star 2019
Angels slugger Shohei Ohtani spoke to Fanatics View following the 2019 Home Run Derby.
Ohtani spoke on his absence from the Derby, and his reaction to not being selected for this years home-run power showcase.
“This isn’t the last year it’s going to happen”, he told Fanatics View on his possible future appearance in the derby. “It happens every year, and I’m sure I’ll have a chance somewhere down the road.”
In addition, Ohtani was asked whether he would participate in a future Home Run Derby.
“Maybe once i start hitting more homers”, the slugger responded. “When i become a home-run hitter, then I’ll participate”, he finished.
Through his first 158 games at-bat, the Japanese star has accumulated 36 Home Runs with the Angels. Regardless of his snub at the Home Run derby, Ohtani has shown incredible power to all parts of the field, and remains a force at the plate.
