Ben Simmons on guarding Trae Young, Mike Scott’s ejection, 76ers “Heart”, Al Horford and Joel Embiid
Simmons on guarding Young: “I told him I wasn’t going to guard him until the end. I’m saving my energy to the end with Trae”
The Philadelphia 76ers handed the Atlanta Hawks their first loss of the season by a score of 105-103 on Monday night at the State Farm Arena. A battle to keep an eye on for the foreseeable future, 76ers point guard Ben Simmons was adamant in the difficulty of guarding Trae Young all game.
“I told him I wasn’t going to guard him until the end. I’m saving my energy to the end with Trae. But he’s an amazing talent, obviously. Very gifted, and he gave us a lot of problems tonight.”
Simmons also shed some light on Mike Scott’s ejection and how his emotions got the best of him at one point.
“There’s a lot of emotion that went into this game. Frustration. Me myself, you know, I got caught up in a little bit for the first few minutes of the third which I shouldn’t have let affect my game.”
Simmons finished it off by adding, “I definitely slowed down. But, it is what it is. We got a win.”
