Doc Rivers Blunt Reaction To Ben Simmons Being a Championship Point Guard: “I Don’t Know”
Watch as Doc Rivers addresses Ben Simmons shooting struggles following elimination by Hawks.
“Really disappointing honestly”, Rivers said following game 7 loss. “Listen, this was a muddy, ugly game tonight. It just seemed like they made the right plays.”
Rivers gave his honest thoughts on Ben Simmons and work that needs to be done for the point guard.
“Obviously he struggled from the free-throw line, and that became a factor in this series, no doubt about that. Still believe in him, but we have work to do. We’re gonna have to get in the gym, put a lot of work in, and go forward.”
In addition, Rivers did praise Simmons defense, holding Hawks’ Trae Young to only 5 field goals.
“There was a positive to Ben, even though people were upset at him. Defensively, he did his job tonight on Trae. Offensively, we were just bad. We’ve been a good offensive team all year, tonight we were not. We weren’t even an average offensive team tonight.”
“I don’t know the answer to that question right now”, Rivers answered on Ben Simmons ability to be a Championship Point Guard.
