Doc Rivers Reacts to 76ers Blowing 26 Point Lead vs. Atlanta & Proclaims “Will Be Back for Game 7”
Watch as Doc Rivers speaks to media following Philadelphia blowing a 26 point lead.
The 76ers had a dominant first half, leading by 22 and eventually gaining a 26 point lead in the 3rd quarter. In spectacular fashion, Atlanta came back to win 109-106 after a rough second half, gaining a 3-2 lead in the series.
“It’s hard to”, Rivers said on finding words to describe the game 5 upset.
“I thought it started in the beginning of the second half”, Rivers said on 20 point lead falling apart. “I think we had 6 turnovers in our first 10 possessions in the third quarter.”
Rivers also expressed his disappointment in 4th quarter and battling back to force game 7 against Atlanta.
“Listen, we scored 19 points and gave up 40. It’s on us, it’s on all of us. It’s on me, it’s on the players and we have to figure out how to get back up, which we will, and bring this game back here for game 7.”
“We’ll be back here for game 7, I believe that”, Rivers added. “This is part of sports. You have some awful moments. There is no guaranteed path to getting to your goal. We’ve made this hard on ourselves. We have to own up to that, all of us, and then we have to get up, and get ready for the next game..”
