Gregg Popovich & Jayson Tatum on Team USA Losing to Nigeria: “Can’t Act Like It’s End of the World”
Watch as Gregg Popovich and Jayson Tatum react to exhibition loss to Nigera.
Preparing for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Team USA stumbled in 1st exhibition match in 90-87 loss to Nigera. Following the loss in Las Vegas, head coach Greg Popovich and Jayson Tatum answered questions.
“They’re a quality team”, Popovich told media on Nigeria’s team. “They’re as athletic as anybody, and very physical, and they’ve been practicing for three weeks.”
“That was the difference in the game”, Popovich said on Nigeria’s three-pointers attributing to loss.
In addition, Tatum talked about building chemistry with his new Team USA teammates heading towards July 23rd.
“It’s only been four days”, he told media. “We’re making strides, none of us have every played with eachother, so we’re just trying to figure it out. We know we don’t have 3 or 4 weeks or whatever it may be. I think this was good for us, we’re gonna learn a lot from film. Just regroup, and stay positive.”
“We just lost a game, and they scored 20 three’s, the answer is yes.”, Popovich furiously said when asked about Team USA’s lackluster defense in loss.
