The Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks scratched and clawed through a tightly fought contest Tuesday in which their brightest stars came out to play. The showdown between LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo is quickly turning their head-to-head matchups into must-watch television.

James missed capturing another triple double by two rebounds and an assist, while The Greek Freak poured in 40 points for Milwaukee in his best attempt to singlehandedly overcome the Cavs. Bucks teammates Malcolm Brogdon and Khris Middleton also showed up for battle as the pair came together to combine for 42 points, 12 rebounds and 17 assists. Despite high caliber play from a number of their supporting cast members, the Bucks dropped a close one to the Cavs in Milwaukee 124-119.

The King was dominant as usual, and although Antetokounmpo outperformed him for the majority of the game, he put his greatness on display down the stretch and came away with the last laugh. In addition to leaving with the W, James tied NBA legend Michael Jordan in career games played as he suited up for the 1072nd regular season game of his decorated career.

As long as basketball fans are alive to duke it out, debates over who’s the greatest player to set foot on a court will never subside. However, it should be noted that LeBron has the advantage in regular season wins, rebounds and assists over the greatest shooting guard in league history.

Cleveland closed out a much needed win against the Bucks, but they head to Houston Thursday to square off against the Rockets in what portends to be another difficult road matchup. Should they pick up an important win in H-Town, the Cavaliers would bring their record back to even and begin to prove their early season woes were nothing to panic over. Should they fall, it might be time to reassess their many offseason acquisitions and their future on the roster.
