Milwaukee Bucks Fire Head Coach Jason Kidd
Seeking change before the All-Star break, Milwaukee fired head coach Jason Kidd on Monday after the team was struggling with a 4-6 record in their last 10 games and currently in the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference.
Some say it was a surprising move, others, not so much. As Bucks head coach, Kidd helped the team make the playoffs twice, but both times exiting in the first round. There was high hopes for this team to be one of the teams to be reckon with in the Eastern Conference. However, the Buck’s record of 24-22 has been due to defensive lapses as well as turnovers.
Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo offered to intervene so Kidd can keep his job and try to fix Milwaukee’s woes.
General manager Jon Horst said it was time for a change and says that if something is inevitable why wait.
“We just felt that we got a point the season where this could more and could perform at a different level in a different way and (we are) looking for a fresh approach and different voice in leadership for the team” Horst said.
Under Kidd, the Bucks had a regular season record of 139-152.
Joe Prunty has been named interim head coach for the rest of the season.
