Jokic on Nuggets’ resiliency: “We were just not accepting that someone is better than us”

Nikolas Jokic and the Denver Nuggets have just made history by being the only team to ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in consecutive series.

An even bolder statement, Jokic dropped one of the meanest triple-doubles to send the Los Angeles Clippers home. With a stat line of 16/13/22, Jokic explains just how good this Nuggets team is, and how complete they are.

“I wanted to say something before the game,” begins Jokic. “Whatever we do, I’m going to remember this team. But I didn’t. Because this is a very interesting team. We don’t have a first pick. We don’t have many superstars. Everybody is working to get where they’re at.”

When asked about head coach Mike Malone’s importance to the team, Jokic sounds like he may be the most important piece.

“He is the one who is ready for every single thing. They cannot put a play on the court where he doesn’t know what is going to happen. He is 100% ready for the game. He’s a study maniac. He’s ready for every game. Whenever we have a bad game, he will always find a solution for the next game. I really, truly believe in him. He’s a big part of the Denver Nuggets.”

The Nuggets will now take on the Los Angeles Lakers in their first Western Conference berth since 2009 when Carmelo Anthony led the team also against the Lakers and the late great Kobe Bryant.
