Errol “Body Snatcher” Spence Jr.?
IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. is thinking of a new nickname.
With his 11th straight title defense, Errol Spence Jr. knocked out mandatory challenger Carlos Ocampo with a devastating blow to the body in the first round.
Going to the body is a facet of boxing that Spence Jr. has been familiar and comfortable with since he was an amateur.
“It’s has always been my style, even as an amateur,” he said. There is a reasoning behind his style. The IBF welterweight champion said that is how he “breaks opponents down” because it is more difficult to recoup from a body shot than a head shot.
Spence Jr. added that it has “always worked for me.” Well, against Ocampo, it worked out in his favor. The champ was so confident that he is contemplating changing his nickname from the “Truth” to the “Body Snatcher.”
