Brandon Adams on loss to Jermall Charlo: ‘I Knew I Had to Knock Him Out’
Brandon Adams felt he gave Jermall Charlo a closer fight than the judges’ scoring.
Brandon Adams (21-3, 13KOs) took a wide-margin loss against Jermall Charlo (29-0, 21KOs) at the NRG Arena in Houston. Charlo retained his WBC middleweight title by unanimous decision, with the judges scoring the fight at 119-109, 118-110, and 118-110.
Though Adams believes the judges favored Charlo, who was fighting in front of his home crowd.
“You fight somebody in they hometown, you gotta dominate; or you gotta knock them out,” Adams told Fanatics View. “I knew that, plus he’s the champion. So I knew and expected that.”
Despite the scoring, Adams felt proud with his performance; while also giving respect to Charlo among the 160-pound division.
“I put him up there with all the top fighters,” said Adams. “And I expect a tough fight from every last one of those guys. So I’m not gonna take away anything from him. But I know regardless of whatever they was expecting out of me, I did a whole lot more.”
