Former middleweight champion Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik likes what he saw from Errol Spence against Mikey Garcia. Spence had stated that the fight will be “a one-sided massacre.” Pavlik tells Fanatics View that Spence “did what he said he was gonna do.”
“He (Spence) used his size, and all of his advantages,” said Pavlik. “He used that. Cause a lot of people have it, and they don’t use it. And you can’t take that way from Errol Spence. He went out there and capitalized on it; and fought a brilliant fight.”
Spence (25-0, 21KOs) retained his IBF welterweight title over Mikey Garcia (39-1, 30KOs) by unanimous decision. Pavlik had the fight scored at 11 rounds to one, in favor of Spence. Although Spence has expressed interest in a fight with Manny Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39KOs), who was in attendance for the fight, Pavlik believes that he should turn his attention towards other champions at welterweight.
“He (Spence) may take some heat for that, you know what I mean?” said Pavlik. “Especially when you got guys like (Keith) Thurman, and (Terrence) Crawford lurking out there. And those would be the fights that the fans wanna see. So for me personally, for Spence, I think he’s great. These fights could happen. But if he doesn’t take one of these big ones, he’s gonna get it.”
