Ole Miss DC Wesley McGriff Speaks on Beating Texas Tech
Ole Miss DC Wesley McGriff After Beating Texas Tech
A big start to the season for the Rebels was much needed. The past few seasons at Ole Miss have been filled with distractions and not being as successful as hoped. This is a new season for the Rebels and they are ready to be great again.
In recent times defense has been the weakest part of this team. For a defense that especially hasn’t been able to defend the run game, defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff was very impressed with how this team played against Texas Tech. The Rebels gave up 164 rushing yards, which is a big improvement for the team. They held Texas Tech back and didn’t let them make big plays. McGriff said, “The explosive plays weren’t there today. The guys did a great job of keeping a lid on the coverage and keeping the running backs in check.”
A relatively young defense still has much to improve on. With lots of new faces, the Rebels are able to substitute players often to make sure they are staying fresh. McGriff says he “wants to be sure we are going into the 4th quarter fresh.”
