Lane Kiffin following FAU’s Boca Raton Bowl blowout: “This is a special story.”
After coaching the FAU Owls to a blowout victory over the Akron Zips in the Boca Raton Bowl, head coach Lane Kiffin meets with the media.
Lane Kiffin has been one of the most popular side stories of the 2017 season. His large personality on social media and unique recruiting techniques have made him the centerpiece of many headlines.
Despite their inability to perform against noticeable Division 1 teams like Wisconsin and run-happy Navy, Lane Kiffin and the Owls are in high spirits following a historic season.
FAU will face another big-name Division 1 opponent in 2018. On September 1st, the Owls travel to Norman, Oklahoma to face Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma Sooners.
Whether the FAU Owls are able to compete with the elite names in NCAA football is still unknown. Despite the uncertainty, Florida Atlantic University and Lane Kiffin just reached a deal through 2027 which suggests the University believes the Owls will be able to compete in the future.
Winning out-of-conference games against big-name schools like Wisconsin and forthcoming Oklahoma is crucial for Lane Kiffin’s job security and ability to recruit. However, Kiffin appears to have strong confidence in his team and its future success.
So for the moment, as coach Kiffin says, #cometothefau.
